Random information on the term “Memory loss”:

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a psychiatric treatment where a generalized seizure (without muscular convulsions) is electrically induced to manage refractory mental disorders. Typically, 70 to 120 volts are applied externally to the patient’s head, resulting in approximately 800 milliamperes of direct current passing between the electrodes, for a duration of 100 milliseconds to 6 seconds, either from temple to temple (bilateral ECT) or from front to back of one side of the head (unilateral ECT). However, only about 1% of the electrical current crosses the bony skull into the brain because skull impedance is about 100 times higher than skin impedance.

The ECT procedure was first conducted in 1938 by Italian psychiatrist Ugo Cerletti and rapidly replaced less safe and effective forms of biological treatments in use at the time. ECT is often used with informed consent as a safe and effective intervention for major depressive disorder, mania, and catatonia. ECT machines were originally placed in the Class III category by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1976. They were re-classified as Class II devices, for treatment of catatonia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder, in 2018.

Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly and Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk[a] are two otome visual novel video games developed by Otomate. They were published for PlayStation Vita by Idea Factory in Japan in 2015 and 2016, and by Aksys Games in North America and Europe in 2018. Intragames and Idea Factory released Black Butterfly for Microsoft Windows in 2018, and plan to follow it with Ashen Hawk in 2019.

In the games, the player reads the stories and make decisions that affect the direction of the plot, leading to different endings. Black Butterfly follows an amnesiac woman who is forced to partake in the black butterfly hunt, and Ashen Hawk follows a woman who is thought to be a witch and therefore disguises herself as a boy and lives outside the town.

Black Butterfly and Ashen Hawk are visual novels in which the player reads through the story and makes choices such as what the player characters should say, affecting the direction of the plot and which of the games’ endings the player ends up at. The games include an interactive flowchart, which the player can use to go back and try alternative choices and keep track of what they have done in the games. In addition to the main scenarios, there are side stories where the player learns more about the characters.
